Home Grown Economy Conference to showcase and discuss different agricultural strategies to succeed in today’s global economy. With Congressman Scott Murphy, local farmers, small business owners, and consumers.
Message from Rep. Scott Murphy:
“As spring in the beautiful Hudson Valley commences, I would like to remind you of the importance of purchasing our locally produced Hudson Valley agricultural products. Over the past two years, our region has been devastated by an economic recession of a severity that has not been seen since the Great Depression. This has taken a tremendous toll on our local farmers, who have witnessed the price of commodities drop substantially amid a decrease in consumer demand. Recently, we have seen some heartening signs indicating that our economy is beginning to recover. While this is good news, the road to recovery requires continued support at the local level.
As part of my ongoing effort to help Renew Upstate New York’s economy and promote local agriculture, I am hosting a Home Grown Economy Conference. I strongly believe that by promoting connections between our farmers, consumers, and community leaders, we can create better markets for out produce and products, help our farming families to grow their businesses as they grow their crops, and provide all New Yorkers with wholesome, healthy, homegrown food.
Through this Home Grown Economy Conference, we have an opportunity to discuss different approaches and strategies to help our local farms and agriculture businesses succeed in the new and increasingly global economy.”
