“Fight Corporate Corruption” Rally

Posted on Aug 3rd, 2010 by Mateo

Tuesday, August 10th, 5 PM
In front of the Elting Memorial Library
93 Main St., New Paltz

From the organizers, Ulster County MoveOn Council:

“One of hundreds of rallies that will take place across the nation to call for an end to the corporate abuse of power and restore democracy to the people.

If you are tired of big corporations like BP, Goldman Sachs and Halliburton destroying our environment, wrecking our economy and endangering our future- then please join us! This is the beginning of a massive grassroots movement that has three planks.
1. Overturn the Supreme Court decision (Citizens United v FEC) that declared corporations are people with the right to spend their unrivaled wealth to defeat or elect candidates of their choosing. 2. Pass the Fair Elections Now Act so that candidates are beholden to voters not special interests. 3. Demand lobby reform. We want Washington to listen to the other 98% of us not represented by lobbyists!”

Bring signs (some will be provided) and bring musical instruments. Sign up at moveon.org or clearstreammedia.blogspot.com.
